Pavers rescue Equity Shoes

Pavers Shoes has rescued mainstream footwear brand Equity Shoes from liquidation.

Pavers Shoes acquired the Equity and Elmdale footwear brands which were owned by Equity Shoes.

It will stock the brands in its stores but will continue to wholesale the two labels. Pavers Shoes said it would honour existing orders and added that it was now taking orders for autumn 09.

Pavers Shoes managing director Stuart Paver said: “We will be offering shoes across all the fittings and will amalgamate the best selling styles from both Equity and Elmdale into the new Equity range. This will prevent duplication in the range and allow us to offer better stock backing to the range, and great value.”

Equity Shoes will continue to be run from its original Leicester-based head office.

Equity Shoes was founded in 1886 and specialises in wide-fitting footwear.
