Pep & Co presses on with Poundland expansion

Discount fashion chain Pep & Co has shut 20 standalone stores, as it continues its shift to a shop-in-shop format in larger Poundland stores.

Pep & Co has so far replaced a third of its 60 standalone shops with in-store areas in nearby Poundland stores.

The chain is set to roll out 50 shop-in-shops between August and October, as part of a drive to open 100 altogether this year.

Both Pep & Co and Poundland are backed by South African retail billionaire Christo Wiese under holding company Pepkor UK, a subsidiary of retail group Steinhoff.
