Pep&Co documentary to air next week

A six-part documentary covering the £20m rollout of Pep&Co’s value chain last summer is set to air on ITV next week, following the start-up as it aims to become the cheapest retailer on the high street.

Bargain Shop Wars - Pep&Co

Led by former Asda chief executive Andy Bond and former Sainsbury’s Tu boss Adrian Mountford, Pep&Co opened 50 shops in 50 days.

The first episode follows shop manager Sue as she struggles to open the new store in Corby on a rival’s patch and attracts an unexpected visit from the competition.

Meanwhile, the head office takes a gamble on ditching the homeware range to launch a men’s line instead. The episode follows the chain of events from decision making in head office through to the factory and onto the shop floor.

The first episode of Bargain Shop Wars airs on ITV1 on April 14 at 8.30pm.
