Pep&Co has revealed its plans to open an additional 20 stores over the next 12 months, building on 15 new stores already slated for autumn, as customer requests for new locations flood in.
The new value chain, which opened 50 stores last year, previously announced it will open another 10 to 15 stores across the UK from autumn. It has now confirmed an ambition for an 85-strong store estate in 2017.
The retailer is using feedback from the general public to help develop its location strategy and has now had more than 20,000 people request a store be opened near them via an online form.
Pep&Co is currently the subject of an ITV documentary called Bargain Shop Wars. It said footfall has increased significantly as a result.
It is recruiting 100 temporary roles in stores for summer, while its logistics partner Clipper is recruiting 30 eight-week roles at its Swadlincote distribution centre in South Derbyshire to help meet demand.
