Perry Ellis opens German hub to drive European expansion

Clothing group Perry Ellis Europe, which owns brands including Farah and Original Penguin, will launch an office in Düsseldorf next month to fuel its growth in Europe.

The office, which will be located in the harbour area of the city, will be led by the group’s new commercial director for the German, Austrian and Swiss markets Sven Adam.

Jack Parkin, business development manager for Farah, told Drapers: “Germany is a natural progression from the UK as it is the biggest market in Europe. We feel Farah is a good fit for this market; we have had instant success with our existing partners, including Urban Outfitters.”

Farah is currently stocked in eight Urban Outfitters stores in Germany and is launching this spring in German retail chain Peek & Cloppenburg.

Adam has joined Perry Ellis Europe from Italian denim brand Replay, where he worked as sales director from 2007. He will focus on Farah and Original Penguin.

Francisco Gonzalez-Meza Hoffmann, managing director of Perry Ellis Europe, said Adam brings a “wealth of experience” in the German, Austrian and Swiss markets and will be able to grow the business in this “very important region” for the company.
