Peter Pilotto to be guest designer at Pitti W

Designer label Peter Pilotto is set to be the guest womenswear designer at the next edition of womenswear tradeshow Pitti W.

The tenth edition of the show will be held in Florence from June 19 to 22 in conjunction with menswear tradeshow Pitto Uomo. Peter Pilotto will show its spring 13 pre-collection at the event.

Lapo Cianchi, director of communications and events for trade show organiser Pitti Immagine, said: “We invited Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos because we were looking for a modern approach to feminine elegance that is constant, profound and has the ability to think about itself.”

He added: “We saw this in the evolution of their collections, a knowledgeable process that develops around surprising colors, body-conscious draping and light sculpting. It was also interesting to see how the designers’ two distinct spirits come together and reinterpret fashion’s classic elements.”

Last month it was announced that luxury French label Carven would be the guest menswear designer at Pitti Uomo. Guillaume Henry, artistic director at Carven, will present the spring 12 men’s collection at the show, with reports he is likely to present the collection in a runway format.
