Philip Day's daughter joins Edinburgh Woollen Mill Group board

Lauren Day, the daughter of Edinburgh Woollen Mill Group chief executive and owner Philip Day, has been appointed to the company’s board as group development director.

Day has worked for the group for more than four years, including stints at its value clothing chain, Peacocks, and helping to develop young fashion brand Jane Norman.

She has worked within the buying and merchandising, and the international franchise teams.

Jane Norman’s 24 stores closed in 2014 after it went into administration, but it continued to trade online and through concessions. Last September, it unveiled a brand refresh, including a new logo, revamped website and extended product range.

A spokesman for Edinburgh Woollen Mill Group said: “Due to the fast-paced environment of the business, the group board now believes that there is a requirement for the role of a group development director to further grow opportunities of the wider group. Lauren has demonstrated the capabilities to fulfil this demanding role.”
