PPR, the French luxury goods group, is to create a new business unit devoted to online retail and said it wanted online sales to account for 10% of Gucci Group and Puma’s revenues.
The group will create cost savings across PPR’s stable of brands and co-ordinate ecommerce strategies and share expertise.
The division will be headed by Fabien Sfez, formerly general manager of electronics retailer Fnac’s French division.
Chairman and chief executive François-Henri Pinault said: “E-commerce is a strategic priority for PPR. This appointment reflects my goal to increase our digital presence and accelerate our growth in online sales, which should reach 10 percent of Gucci Group and Puma’s consolidated revenues over the next few years.”
The Gucci Group includes brands Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and Bottega Veneta.
E-commerce sales EUR2bn (£1.67bn) in 2009 with more than 80 web sites worldwide.
