PPR posts Q4 sales rise

French luxury fashion group PPR, the business behind brands including Gucci, Stella McCartney and Alexander McQueen, saw revenues rise 11.2% in the fourth quarter as the company said it was confident about 2012 despite the economic climate.

In the three months to December 31 group like-for-like revenues rose by 7.7% to €3.63bn (£3.01bn) compared to €3.26bn (£2.70bn) in the same period last year.

PPR’s luxury division, which includes Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and Stella McCartney, reported a 22.1% rise in sales to €1.4bn (£1.2bn). Sales at its sport and lifestyle division were up 25.9% to €785.1m (£651.5m).

PPR chairman and chief executive officer François-Henri Pinault said: “In the uncertain economic climate of early 2012, the core strengths underpinning PPR’s robust 2011 results will continue to propel our performance this year.”

He added: “PPR is confident that 2012 will be another year of sustained revenue growth and improvements in our operating and financial performance.”
