Premium co-founder to launch new London trade show

The co-founder of the Premium exhibition in Berlin has teamed up with trends service WGSN to launch a trade show in London in early 2016.

WeAr Select is scheduled to take place at Old Billingsgate in the City of London on Saturday and Sunday January 9 and 10. It wants to attract 300 brands across menswear, womenswear and footwear.

Premium co-founder Klaus Vogel, who owns global fashion trade magazine WeAr, is organising the event with his London-based daughter Shamin. Their aim is to allow brands to showcase a concise edit of their collections before full ranges are released at international tradeshows.

The event show will coincide with London Collections: Men, which is expected to take place from January 8-11, ahead of Pitti Uomo on January 12-15.

Klaus Vogel, who for many years was advertising supremo on the jeans-focused Sportswear International magazine, believes that London is the best venue for his pre-show fair. He told Drapers that international buyers welcomed the idea, even though it is somewhat out of step with the womenswear and footwear calendars.

“Along with our trend partner WGSN, our team will hand-select some of the very best the world has to offer in fashion designers – from the US, UK, Paris, Italy, and Tokyo to the less well-known areas such as mainland China, Brazil, Mexico, Thailand and Korea to name just a few,” said Vogel.

  • Here we go again more confusion! Who will attend ,who will want to show , maybe they know something we don't !!
What retailer can attend on a Saturday or Sunday, what Brit will show there compared to Pitti which is a tried and tested quality show attend every season by the best International buyers!
I will watch and wait to see this happen!
