Pretty Green international and wholesale boss exits

Pierre Darnton has left his position as head of international and wholesale at menswear business Pretty Green after just six months.

Darnton departed last week and will now focus on leading his brand-building consultancy Snask, which he founded in January 2006. Drapers understands he will not be directly replaced.

Darnton, who was UK and Ireland managing director for G-Star between 1999 and 2004, was brought into Pretty Green to expand its business internationally.

A source suggested this was on a consultancy basis and Darnton left following Pretty Green’s successful launch in the US earlier this year.

Pretty Green signed a joint venture agreement with brand-building agency Empire & Branch in January to start wholesaling in the US.

It set up a showroom at 530 Seventh Avenue in New York and is targeting both US-based department stores and independent retailers. Pretty Green will also look to open its own stores in the US in time.

In March Pretty Green brand director Nigel Grant left the menswear business after five years to concentrate on running his construction firm.

Grant has not been directly replaced, but Pretty Green’s head of digital Tim Kalic’s responsibilities have widened to include marketing.
