The value retailer said the rise was driven by an increase in retail selling space and strong like-for-like sales growth for the 16 weeks to January 5.
Primark's store portfolio now stands at 173 shops, with five million sq ft of selling space. Since the end of last year, it has opened stores in Jerez and Madrid bringing the total number of stores in Spain to four. A new store also opened in Cork and larger shops in Tralee and Brighton have replaced smaller ones in the areas. A further four stores are planned to open in Spain in April.
Parent company Associated British Foods expects profits in Primark to continue to show good progress despite a volatile market.
