Primark has hired former Topshop/Topman trading chief James Mooney as merchandising director for womenswear, it has emerged.
Mooney left the Arcadia-owned business in April last year among a host of senior-level departures.
He will be based at Primark’s head office in Dublin, where he is tasked with leading merchandising for womenswear across its operations in the Republic of Ireland, southern Europe and the US.
A spokesman for Primark confirmed the appointment, adding: “[Mooney] brings a wealth of international experience to Primark having previously held a number of senior merchandising roles at Arcadia Group.”
Mooney had joined Burton Menswear, also owned by Arcadia, in 2007 as head of merchandising. He then moved to Topshop/Topman as merchandise director, spending more than five years in the role before his appointment as trading director in 2014.
