Fast fashion retailer Primark has been identified as the fastest-growing retailer in the US.
The high street retailer has topped the Hot 100 list from retail trade association National Retail Federation’s (NRF) magazine Stores, which ranks the US’s fastest-growing retailers by year-on-year domestic sales growth.
The annual list showed that US sales growth had risen 103% between 2016 and 2017, and retail sales reached $9.9bn (£7.6bn).
The fast fashion retailer outperformed Amazon, sports and recreation retailer Bass Pro Shops, and appliance retailer Build.com.
The Hot 100 list is compiled by research firm Kantar Consulting and NRF to assess the retailers’ percentage of US sales’ growth in 2017 from 2016, with a $300m (£231m) cap for inclusion.
Primark opened its first US store in Boston in 2015 and has since opened eight further locations across the US, the most recent of which was the 58,000 sq ft shop in Brooklyn, which has 56 fitting rooms and 42 payment desks.
