Primark scoops up former BHS unit in Centre:MK

Primark has signed for a 75,000 sq ft shop floor at Milton Keynes shopping complex Centre:MK, occupying an extension of a former BHS unit.

The unit, located on Silbury Arcade, will showcase the entire Primark range. The fit-out will begin next year.

Centre:MK said the move marked the largest single letting at the shopping centre in 25 years, since Marks & Spencer opened at the site.

It added that the store is expected to be one of Primark’s largest in the UK. Primark was the most requested brand by visitors in exit surveys for the last five years, according to the shopping centre.

A spokesperson at Primark said: “Working with the [centre’s] joint owners, we have achieved our longstanding objective of bringing Primark to the city centre in a store that will be emblematic of our brand.”

Centre:MK is jointly owned by asset manager Hermes Investment Management and superannuation and pension fund AustralianSuper.

River Island is among the retailers to recently announce plans to upsize at Centre:MK.
