Pringle of Scotland has renewed its UK and European socks and underwear licensing deal with legwear distributor Osan.
Osan has held the licence for the knitwear brand since 1993 and has extended this to 2020 under the new terms.
The distributor, based in Crewe, Cheshire, will also introduce Scottish golfwear brand Glenmuir’s first range of women’s socks for autumn 15, and a line of Glenmuir boot socks in August.
Osan is a part of family-run Lancashire textile business Ruia Group, which bought Glenmuir for £4.5m in 2002. The company acquired the exclusive licence for the business three years ago. The group also owns Hawick Knitwear and fair-trade menswear brand Five Gold.
In 2006, Ruia Group bought hosiery retailer SockShop, which operates 10 concessions in the UK including three in House of Fraser stores in Doncaster, Leicester and Swindon.
A spokeswoman for Pringle told Drapers: “The main reason for renewing is that we still get to contribute to the design, packaging and branding. Under the new agreement Osan will focus on pushing our premium Black Label range, which is where we see the brand positioned, rather than focusing on discount retailers.”
