Profits soar at Brown Thomas

Selfridges-owned Irish department store group Brown Thomas is reaping the benefits of its store investment programme.

The retailer, which has branches in Dublin, Cork, Galway and Limerick, enjoyed a 60% increase in underlying profit last year, following tight cost control, strong online growth and a €34m (£30m) investment in stores over the last three years.

Profit after tax rose 38% to €15.6m (£14m), according to The Irish Times.

Sales were up 11% to €172.5m (£154.7m).
