Prêt à Porter launches commercial catwalk event

Paris womenswear trade show Prêt à Porter is to launch a commercial catwalk event next month to allow luxury brands to show their pre-collections and diffusion lines.

Ten catwalk shows will take place on July 4 and 5 in Paris’ Palais Brongniart under the banner Paris Fashion Days. They will show spring 11 collections to fashion professionals and autumn 10 collections to the general public.

Brands that have signed up include womenswear labels Vivienne Westwood Anglomania, Anne Valerie Hash’s AVH label, Pablo de Gerard Darel, Chemins Blancs, Ventcouvert and Camomilla. Two more brands will be announced next week.

The event has been scheduled earlier in the show calendar than Prêt à Porter’s September 4 to 7 dateline to fit in with commercial trade shows such as Bread & Butter, which runs from July 7 to 10 in Berlin.

The organisers said the event had been launched in response to demand from brands looking to reach buyers from large department stores, most of whom begin placing their spring 11 orders in July.
