Pure Collection appoints acting CEO as John Nicholas departs

Women’s cashmere brand Pure Collection has promoted operations director Sam Harrison to acting chief executive with immediate effect.

She replaces John Nicholas, who has left the business after five months as CEO. His reasons for leaving have not been disclosed.

Nicholas joined the company as chief operating officer in March 2015 and took over as CEO from founder Nick Falkingham in April.

Falkingham has stepped back to take on the more strategic position of executive vice-chairman.

Harrison joined Pure Collection in 2004. As operations director, she had board-level responsibility for customer services, logistics, IT and HR.

Falkingham established Pure Collection in Harrogate in 2002 and opened its first store in Tunbridge Wells in 2011. It now trades from 30 John Lewis concessions and seven stores across the UK, in Tunbridge Wells, Chichester, Guildford, London, Marlow, Reigate and York.

It also has an ecommerce and mail order business in the UK and US.

It plans to open between 40 and 50 stores over the next five years.

Womenswear veteran Jo Hooper joined as product director in April.
