Rabe appoints new Lucia agent

German knitwear brand Rabe, which rescued German womenswear brand Lucia last month, has axed the brand’s UK sales team and shut down its London showroom.

Jonathan Bauer and Peter Atkins from IFC Leeds have been appointed as the new UK agents for the brand.

IFC will take over sales responsibilities from Jenny Sutton, who was head of Lucia’s UK office and Barry Brownleader, who was the brand’s agent in the north west for 23 years.

Weber said the original Lucia design team would remain in place, and stressed he was confident that UK customers would continue to buy into the label.

Bauer said: “After seeing the spring 09 collection at a recent presentation in Germany, we were ecstatic as it has everything: colours, style, quality and the same price level. We are confident that the new ownership will be a massive success.”

Lucia was rescued from insolvency by Rabe last month, along with its sister label LeComte.

Lucia will show its spring 09 range at Moda at Birmingham NEC from August 10-12. To contact IFC Leeds, call 0113 243 1699.
