Radley, the premium handbag brand, has drafted in Paul Mason, former president of Levi Strauss Europe, as chairman.
The appointment follows the £130 million sale of Radley to private equity firm Exponent in December. Mason, who is also chief executive at supermarket chain Somerfield, will spend two days a month at the firm.
He said: "Radley is a fantastic growth company with out--standing products and a strong executive team."
Hugh Richards, a partner at Exponent, added: "Paul has an impressive background in retail brands. We are confident he will help us to realise our ambitious growth plans."
Radley’s sales rose 24% to £58.3m for the year ended April 2008. It has posted consistent sales rises averaging 30% for the past five years.
The company also plans to open showrooms and offices in Boston in the US, following the successful trial of products in US department stores Blooming-dales and Lord & Taylor.
