Rain puts a dampener on July's retail sales

Retail sales last month showed the weakest rise since November, with sales up just 1.2% like-for-like compared with July 2006. The British Retail Consortium said torrential rain had continued to hit clothing and footwear this year, but benefited department stores and out-of-town centres.
