Record numbers visit London's West End

Footfall in London's West End rose by 5.5% in January compared with last year, according to the New West End Company. The organisation said 19.7 million shoppers visited Oxford Street, Regent Street and Bond Street last month compared with 18.7m the previous year. The average weekly flow was 4.9m, an increase of 250,000 shoppers a week, compared with January 2006's average weekly flow of 4.7m.
