Reduced rate selling space for indies in London shopping centre

The West12 shopping centre in London’s Shepherds Bush is now home to a 6,000 sq ft year long pop-up dedicated to local and independent entrepreneurs.

The Petit Miracles Hub provides small business owners from Hammersmith and Fulham, Westminster, and Kensington Chelsea with flexible selling space lasting between two weeks and the full 12 months.

Rates range between £35 and £115 per week, inclusive of space, utilities, rates, service charges and business surgeries. Those who stay on more than three months are assigned a business mentor, as part of the hire.

Elisicia Moore, director of Petit Miracles, told Drapers the low rates are designed to help small businesses and new designers succeed in retail.

“Our hope is that we get a mix of tenures: 30% staying long term, 30% mid-term and 30% less than 1 month.”

Of the 20 available spaces, nine are currently occupied by independent fashion and accessories retailers, including unisex streetwear label Flye Clothing, which launched in May 2014 with the help of the Princes Trust.

Moore added that talks are already underway with landlords Landsecurities about the future of the project beyond the 12-month lease.
