Reiss has appointed former Marks & Spencer, Mothercare and Next director Karl Doyle as its new group trading director.
Doyle previously worked with Reiss CEO Christos Angelides at Next between 1995 and 2005, when Doyle held the role of head of merchandising. He will begin his new role next week and will report into Angelides, Drapers understands.
Doyle was most recently executive group product director for Mothercare for three years until April this year. Before that he was executive group product director for Shop Direct for a year to December 2013.
Doyle started his career at M&S in 1987 and held a variety of head office roles until 1995. He then returned to the retailer as trading director in 2005 and held the position until 2013.
Since joining Reiss as chief executive at the end of March, Angelides has made several hires. These include bolstering the buying and merchandising team at Reiss by poaching people from his former employer Next.
Anglelides spent 28 years at Next, 14 of which were on the main board as group product director. He left in October 2014 to become president of Abercrombie & Fitch. However, he abruptly departed the US retailer just over a year later, in December 2015, and returned to the UK.
