EBITDA at young branded fashion chain Republic rose 30.3% to £17.2 million for the 52 weeks to January 27. However the business said that Christmas and next year would be 'challenging'.
Republic's like-for-like sales were up 6.1% for the period, with total sales up 11.6% to £120.7m.
Republic, which stocks brands including G-Star, Bench, Henleys and Fenchurch alongside own labels Miso and Soul Cal, opened eight stores during the year, and the company spent £4.2m on new stores, relocations and refurbishments.
Republic chief executive Tim Whitworth said: "We expect the environment over the critical Christmas period and well into 2009 to remain challenging for all retailers. We are not immune to these challenges, however, we believe our target market and model to be resilient and dynamic in enabling us to continue to exceed our customers' expectations and grow market share. We have executed our 2008 new store programme and continue to experience phenomenal ecommerce growth. Our 2008 numbers will reflect this with further revenue and profit growth."
Republic launched its website in May 2007.
