Out-of-town and online retail sales are growing more than twice as fast as high street sales, according to research from Verdict. Sales at out- of-town, neighbourhood, online and mail-order retailers will grow by 15.4% by 2011, compared with 6.5% growth in town centres. The forecast is bleak for older malls, but the research said new shopping centres will perform well, with department stores such as John Lewis driving growth.
