Designer Zandra Rhodes has joined forces with ethical brand People Tree to create a fair trade women’s capsule collection for autumn 13.
The six-piece range is made using 100% organic cotton and hand-printed silk, and comprises dresses, skirts and a kaftan.
Rhodes unveiled the collection on stage at trade show Pure London earlier this week, together with People Tree chief executive Safia Minney.
Minney and Rhodes visited fair trade groups in India earlier this year so Rhodes could discover more about the fabrics used in the collection.
Rhodes said: “My life’s work has been creating original clothing for women to wear and feel fabulous about themselves, and the icing on the cake now is that I have the opportunity to design with a conscience.”
Wholesale prices for the collection range from £36 for a skirt to £60 for a dress.
People Tree stockists include indies Starburst Boutique in Dartmouth, Devon, and Room Fifty One in Hastings, East Sussex.
