Exclusive: Robbery investigation at Browns

Police are investigating an alleged armed robbery at designer boutique Browns’ Shoreditch store, Drapers can reveal.

The Metropolitan Police were called following a report that three men carrying a machete and sledgehammers entered the store on 21 Club Row, just after 2.30pm on Tuesday 5 February.

The balaclava-wearing thieves “smashed glass cabinets displaying footwear, and handbags and stole a substantial quantity of goods”, the Met Police told Drapers.

A Browns spokeswoman has confirmed that no staff members were injured in the incident.

She added: “Our first concern and priority is always our staff and our customers, and we are offering them our full support. Thankfully no one was harmed during the incident. We are working closely with police on this matter.”

The two-floor Browns East store is in the former Sonos Studio space, just off Redchurch Street.

The Met Police urges anyone with any information to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
