Rocket Dog bites back against fakes

Footwear brand Rocket Dog is embroiled in legal proceedings against six UK retailers and has cases pending against stores in France and Spain over the 'passing off' of product.

The brand's UK distributor, Passion Sports, is clamping down on retailers as it tries to defend its product against a surge in counterfeit merchandise.

Passion Sports has written to the retailers involved and is gearing up to sue one for design infringement.

Another has removed product after unknowingly selling fakes.

A source close to Rocket Dog said: "A supplier came to the showroom, took pictures pretending they wanted to open an account and then copied the shoes."

A Passion Sports spokeswoman said any suppliers or retailers not selling bona fide product would be subject to legal action.
