Rollasole picks up top prize at Footwear Friends Awards

Bristol-based ballet pump brand Rollasole won first prize at last night’s annual Footwear Friends Awards, picking up a £5,000 bursary to help develop the business.

The award was sponsored by The Worshipful Company of Cordwainers and collected by Rollasole’s managing director Matt Henton.

Sarahjayne and Jonathan Matthew, founders of Solillas, won the second prize of £2,500 and the British Footwear Association’s Platform Award, which will sponsor them at the Las Vegas trade show next season.

Dear Frances founder Jane Cunneen picked up third prize of £750.

Malcolm Collins of Footwear Friends said: “This year we have seen an increase in applicants and were impressed by the quality of the work that is being done. It is always difficult to choose between so much talent, but we feel the winners were those who not only had exciting product but business acumen as well, and as such will develop into major players in the footwear industry.

“I am also delighted that so many people attended the event and by doing so supported the trade’s unique charity.”

The awards were held at St Mary at Hill Church in Eastcheap, London.
