Womenswear chain Roman is to relaunch occasionwear brand Dusk for autumn 16 in its own stores and online.
The Birmingham-based retailer acquired 12 brands including Dusk, Frank Usher, Coterie and Michael Ambers out of receivership for an undisclosed amount in May 2011, after previous owner and manufacturer CDU was placed into administration a month earlier.
The new Dusk collection will sit alongside Roman’s original brand but will be more occasionwear-focused, with retail prices for a dress ranging from £70-£80 compared to £40-£50 for Roman.
The brands were originally wholesale labels, but they will be sold via Roman’s own channels going forward.
Roman’s managing director Rick Christo said the firm had not had time until now to focus on the brands it acquired in 2011 because it was concentrating on the growth of the retail business. He said the Dusk collection will expand further for spring 17.
The company has expanded rapidly since 2011, growing from 50 to 150 UK stores and 140 concessions.
Between 2011 and 2015, turnover increased by an average of 26.5% year on year, reaching £55.5m for the year ended December 31.
