Roulette gambles on growth

Jersey-based independent Roulette is gearing up to open a dedicated womens-wear store and expand its online offer.

The new store, which will be located opposite its original site in Beresford Street in St Helier, will stock premium brands such as Vivienne Westwood, McQ, Twenty8Twelve and DVB by Victoria Beckham, alongside footwear by Terry DeHavilland.

The existing shop will be converted back to a menswear-only store, and the menswear offer will be bolstered by brands including Vivienne Westwood and PRPS.

As part of its expansion strategy, the retailer is also increasing its online presence. Owner David Cullen said: "We will add about 500 products to the current transactional website, which we market through Google, but we are also planning to widen the online marketing.

"We're based in Jersey so we have the advantage of being VAT-free, which makes us an attractive option for shoppers, and we will ship any purchase over £100 for free."

Cullen added that he planned to cement Roulette's presence in Jersey over the next 12 months, but said he would consider opening stores on the UK mainland towards the end of 2008.
