Sainsbury’s expands finance chief’s role

Sainsbury’s has added business development and online to chief finance officer John Rogers’ responsibilities, as one of the company’s senior directors prepares to step down.

Rogers, who has worked at Sainsbury’s since 2005, will now oversee the group strategy, Mobile by Sainsbury’s, Sainsbury’s Energy, Netto, online and new business.

This is on top of his existing responsibilities of finance, property, procurement and Sainsbury’s Bank.

Helen Buck, who was previously responsible for business development, will leave at the end of July after 10 years at Sainsbury’s to join cash & carry Palmer and Harvey as chief operating officer.

Sainsbury’s chairman David Tyler said: “[Chief executive] Mike [Coupe] and John have formed a great partnership and, alongside our wider management team, we think we have the right people in place to drive the business forward over the coming years.”
