Sainsbury’s Tu clothing sales jump 5%

Sales of Sainsbury’s Tu clothing line rose by 5% in the nine weeks to 11 March 2017, as the supermarket continues to focus on building market share.

Although exact figures were not released, chief executive of Sainsbury’s Group, Mike Coupe, said that customers “appreciate the quality, choice and value” of both food and clothing offers. Total like for like sales at Sainsbury’s and Argos rose 0.3%.

Last month, Sainsbury’s appointed the creative agency Portas to look after visual merchandising of the brand, with the aim of turning Tu into a “destination brand”.
