Sajid Javid to face more questions on business rates

Sajid Javid, secretary of state for communities and local government, will face further scrutiny over business rates next month.

On 19 April, the select committee for communities and local government will examine the progress of the government’s proposals for local authorities to retain 100% of business rates, as well as the recent rates revaluation.

The committee published an interim report last year on issues relating to 100% retention. It said the impact of business rates on councils was likely to be an area of future work.
