Sales rise in April for second year in a row

UK retail sales in April rose 2.4% like for like compared with April 2006, according to the British Retail Consortium. Sales for April 2006 were 6.8% ahead of the same month the year before thanks to Easter falling within April rather than March, as occurred in 2005. It said clothing and footwear showed 'excellent growth in the warm weather'.
