Sales up at Sainsbury's fashion brand Tu

Sales at Tu, the clothing and homeware arm of Sainsbury’s, grew in the first half of the year, up 6.8% on 2016.

The business rolled out digital collection points in stores during the 28 weeks to 23 September, taking the total to 200.

The supermarket chain now intends to roll out click-and-collect for Argos and Tu to 100 Sainsbury’s Locals. It added that Argos Fast Track same-day delivery and collection are now its fastest growing channels.

Mike Coupe, group chief executive of J Sainsbury, said: “Both groceries online and convenience sales grew strongly, up by over 7% and over 8% respectively and general merchandise and clothing both outperformed the market and grew market share.”
