Sandwich hires Olsen UK boss

United Clothing, the UK distributor of womenswear brands Sandwich and Stills and kidswear brand No-Nonsense, has appointed Olsen UK boss Charlotte McHardy as managing director.

McHardy will join United Clothing on December 1.

United Clothing’s current managing director, James Warren, will continue to work with United Clothing’s owner the Veldhoven Group  in an advisory capacity while developing other business areas.

McHardy said “Having always admired the success of the Veldhoven Group and in particular their brand Sandwich, I am absolutely delighted at the prospect of joining their organisation.”

She added: “Despite the challenges 2010 may present, I believe Sandwich, Stills and No-Nonsense will be key brands of the next decade and look forward to playing an integral role in their continued development.”

Warren, who has held the position for 21 years, said: “After 15 years of sustained growth in the primary route to the market, wholesale, the company believes there are many opportunities available to continue the development of the brands over the next 10 years into other areas of the industry. However, protecting the historic values of the company, brands and the wholesale business is a crucial element in our strategy.”

United Clothing currently has 590 stockists in the UK and Republic of Ireland.
