Sandwich to design range for UK tastes

Dutch womenswear brand Sandwich is setting up a design workshop to create pieces tailored to the UK market, after its sales soared in the UK last year.

The move coincides with the launch of a new factory in the Far East at the end of this month to create extra capacity to meet demand.

UK managing director James Warren said total sales grew by 21.2% last year and by 19% in the UK. The UK is Sandwich's most important market after the Netherlands, with sales of £10.8 million and 442 accounts.

Sandwich celebrated its 25th anniversary at Pure this week.

Warren said the label would remain exclusive to independent retailers.
