Savy founder sets up agency

Men’s young fashion store owner Luke Taylor has launched his own agency in a bid to provide retailers with up-and-coming menswear labels.

Taylor, owner of independent Savy Menswear (pictured) in Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire, and his business partner Duncan Murphy, have launched agency New Movement Threads and are on the lookout for brands to represent.

“We saw a bit of a gap in the market as there isn’t an agency that is solely offering up-and-coming brands,” said Taylor.

“Mid-range stuff is a hard sell at the moment and menswear is going the same way that womenswear did – men now care more about the look rather than the branding. We want to introduce independent clothing labels that clearly have potential to become established brands.”

Over the coming weeks Taylor and Murphy will scout out potential labels to represent. “We are looking at Asos Marketplace, Scandinavian streetwear brands and American brands, but to start with we are looking for [a brand] that has a good social media presence.”
