Diego Della Valle, the owner of luxury goods maker the Tod’s group, is to re-launch the French designer label Schiaparelli in 2013.
Almost 60 years on from the closing of the label, the Italian businessman has hired French model and actress Farida Khelfa to be the spokeswoman for the label, according to reports. Della Valle is also reportedly looking for a head designer.
The brand was founded by designer Elsa Schiaparelli in the 1920s, however, due to the struggling economy after the war the brand shut down in 1954. The headquarters for the relaunched brand will be based in Paris.
Della Valle said: “This brand doesn’t have to get involved in the frenetic world of numbers, accounts and dimensions, but it just has to express itself at its best.”
