Schools told to ditch expensive uniforms

The government is to unveil guidelines to stop schools in England insisting on exclusive uniforms from specific stores, after the Office of Fair Trading found that parents were spending up to £32 million more a year than if they shopped at cheaper shops. The guidelines say schools could face legal action from the OFT unless they scrap exclusive contracts.
