Schuh to open first international store and expand Schuh Kids

Schuh is to open its first international store in Germany next year and is looking to expand its Schuh Kids fascia.

According to Drapers sister title Retail Week, the footwear retailer has signed to open a store in Oberhausen, which will open early next year, and is exploring more opportunities in northern Europe, finance director Mark Crutchley told the publication.

Schuh launched its kids fascia Schuh Kids two years ago and now has six stores. Crutchley said to Retail Week that there was the potential to grow it into a “reasonably sized chain”.

It comes as Schuh announced its sales dipped by 1.3% to £230m during the year to February 1, 2014, and operating profit fell 21% from £14.8m to £12.1m, as it invested in opening 17 new stores across the UK and Ireland.
