Scotch & Soda plots UK retail expansion

Young fashion brand Scotch & Soda is set to expand its retail presence in the UK after acquiring its first two stores in London.

The brand has bought two 1,000 sq ft stores opposite each other at 170 and 181 Westbourne Grove, with plans to open in the autumn this year. One shop will trade as Scotch & Soda menswear whereas the other will stock solely womenswear with a Maison Scotch fascia.

The stores were acquired by Duncan Gilliard and Matt Hyland in the Central London retail team at property agent Cushman & Wakefield.

Gilliard said the eastern section of Westbourne Grove had seen a surge in demand with brands recently taking units on the street. “We are excited about working with the retailer on its expansion in the UK, with London as its focus for further stores.”

Scotch & Soda, which was acquired by private equity firm Sun Capital Partners and US brand house Kellwood last year, has six stores in the Netherlands and also has two franchise stores in Belgium and two in France.
