Organic and fair trade brand Gossypium has opened a second standalone store after reporting strong sales.
The 430sq ft store has opened at 19 Brighton Place in The Lanes in Brighton, East Sussex. Gossypium already has a store in Lewes, also in East Sussex.
Director Thomas Petit said he planned to open eight stores in the next two years in south-east England. “A lot of people from Brighton were going to the Lewes store, so we decided to tap into the Brighton community by opening a store there,” he said. “We’ve had a good first week and we’re expecting total sales for the year to be 15% ahead of last year.”
Gossypium’s collection includes womenswear, menswear and kidswear. It also has 300 wholesale accounts globally.
Its Brighton store is fitted with specially-commissioned furniture made from cardboard, and all store fittings are 100% recycled.
Gossypium will launch a homeware collection, including bed linen and towels, which will hit stores this month.
