Shop Direct has made a number of changes to its executive board, giving deputy chief executive Gareth Jones a broader remit.
Jones, who joined the business in 2009 and was promoted to the newly created position of deputy chief executive in October, will now also take on the role of group chief operating officer from January.
It means Jones will oversee fulfilment, operations, process excellence, outsourcing and customer services, as well as retaining responsibility for strategy, customer experience, Very Exclusive, ecommerce and customer intelligence.
Financial services chief executive Andy Hart has decided to leave Shop Direct for personal reasons, so group chief operating officer Neil Chandler will take over the role from January 5, while continuing to be responsible for IT and legal.
Meanwhile, retail finance director Greg Pateras and retail brands and trading director Jon Owen have been promoted to the board.
Pateras, who has been at Shop Direct for eight years, will succeed Mark McMenemy as group finance director following his decision to retire as a full-time executive in early 2015. Owen takes on the role of group retail brands director, assuming responsibility for the creative team in addition to Shop Direct’s retail brands, such as Very and Littlewoods.
All of the new positions will take effect from January 5, 2015, although the financial services positions are subject to approval by the Financial Conduct Authority.
Alex Baldock, group chief executive officer at Shop Direct, said: “Congratulations to Greg and Jon, two home-grown rising stars, and to Gareth and Neil, both linchpins of our transformation so far. This team can take us to the next level in our journey towards being a world-class digital retailer.
“Meanwhile, many thanks to Mark and Andy, who have played key roles in our recent resurgence. We are determined to build on that to become a true leader in ecommerce.”
