Retailers at Union Square in Aberdeen have employed more than 150 temporary staff to help cope with the demand over the festive season.

People are looking to spend their money wisely this year and there has been there has been a significant shift to a more thoughtful approach to buying gifts.”

He added: “The strong performance in the run up to Christmas is encouraging and we expect to see strong footfall and retail sales during the post Christmas sales rush.”
