Menswear supplier and leading Moss Bros shareholder Simon Berwin has been appointed non-executive director of the menswear chain.
Moss Bros has further bolstered its board with the appointment of Debbie Hewitt as an independent non-executive director. Hewitt was previously managing director at motoring body RAC and has also worked at Marks & Spencer at executive level. Hewitt is currently on the board of a number of companies including car manufacturer HR Owen and consultancy Mouchel Group.
Simon Berwin, who is chief executive of menswear supply business Berwin & Berwin, led a consortium of investors who bought a 28% stake in Moss Bros from Arcadia owner Sir Philip Green at the end of last year.
Moss Bros chairman David Adams said: “Simon’s manufacturing expertise will help the company source and supply the best product to its customers. Debbie has a wealth of experience and skills across a broad spectrum of businesses which will complement the board.”
Adams said that the appointments completed the team to take Moss Bros forward. Brian Brick was appointed permanent chief executive in March, following the departure of Philip Mountford.
Last week Moss Bros said like-for-like sales had fallen by 3.9% for the 16 weeks ended March 23. However suit sales rose by 27%.
