Simon Miller appointed men’s creative director at Citizens of Humanity

Simon Miller has joined luxury denim label Citizens of Humanity as menswear creative director.

The New Zealand born designer will start heading up the men’s design beginning with the autumn 14 season.

Speaking of his new appointment Miller said: “The market is competitive and you always have to evolve. We aren’t changing the DNA of the brand as its well set, and well loved. We just want to renew the identity.”

Meanwhile, women’s head designer at the brand, Catherine Ryu, has been promoted to women’s creative director beginning with the spring 14 season.

Founder and chief executive Jerome Dahan said Miller and Ryu have a “deep understanding and appreciation of denim”. He added: “Creativity is a collaborative process and we are interested in building the strongest possible design team to continue to push the brand forward and bring great product to our customers.”

Citizens of Humanity is distributed in more than 1300 retailers in more than 35 countries and is sold in stores such as Anthropologie and etailer
